I remember hearing about this a few years ago. But I was thinking of Ewan McGregor at the time. Imagine me thinking Ben Kanobi is gay...

<< LMAO, I didnt know either until his interview on 60 Minutes...Suprised me also >>

Yeah, I found out then too. Apparently he got a lot of hate mail about it (a gay actor playing gandalf).

I thought that line in the monolog about the saint patricks day parade was great.

"They don't really want gay people in the St. Patrick's day parade...funny, because they don't have a problem with the priests..."

I'm not sure if he is or isn't, and really could care less, but he sure does seem pretty gay. Or maybe british people just appear that way because of the way they talk, you know all proper and such. DO NOT take offense to what I just said as it was definitely not meant that way, it was just a observation.

A fair number of actors and musicians, several who have been mentioned here as buff, masculine gods, are known within the industry to be gay.

In "The Two Towers", Gandalf returns from his battle with Balrog more powerful than ever. He is no longer Gandalf the Gray, he is now Gandalf of Many Colors [mental picture of Sir Ian McKellan as a 70 year-old Donny Osmond-lookalike wearing a technicolor Dreamcoat!!!]

I think you're being a little too sensitive there Vip. I wouldn't dare speak for azazyel, but I took his statement to mean "glad to see he's happy and honest about who he is", and/or "I don't have a problem with it"... not "it's wonderful that Sir Ian McKellan has achieved the state of gayness".

<< ever see him in Apt Pupil? >>

Whoa I didn't realize that was him in Apt Pupil. That was a fascinating movie.

I watched a movie called Gods and Monsters in which Ian McKellan played James Whale, the late homosexual director. His character hit on Brendan Fraser's character, who thank goodness is not gay in the movie or IRL. :p
