singularity constantly crashing

I have the steam version of singularity; when I started the game I had no issues then I didn't play for a day and now it constantly crashes. This is on windows 7 64 bit and 6950 video card.

The only thing I did since last play was update the video card driver (at steam's request). Not 100% sure I did that prior to downloading the game.

I'm not sure if this is a permission problem; driver problem or other bug. Anyone familiar with this issue or suggestion as to how to find the issue (some hidden log maybe?)

I'm suspicious this is related the microsoft visual c++ library but not sure there. It happens when I type R (for example) to read a note and when I think it wants to auto save.

I did try running it as admin; also tried verifying cache (all was fine) and I've tried checking the event log which indicates application crashed but as far as I can tell nothing more.

Will as soon as it is installed; Note that the game starts fine; and I can shoot a zombie (my game is near the start but after I found the gun) but as soon as I hit R to read a note it freezes or as soon as it hits what I think is an auto save point. I can use R pick up things fine.

(I uninstalled and am reinstall to see if that fixes the issue); unfortunately it takes steam forever to download...)

Sadly I also rolled back my computer by a few days to when I first installed the game; but that also did no good (and I think it made other things worse).

Did you try disabling motion blur? 🙂

I'm trying it tonight.

Started the download, had a snack, and it's already at 57%.

How did I live so long without cable internet?

It's fun but short; finished it in one day. Also I really hate the unreal engine (too many invisible walls). I wish someone would do a game like this with the farcry engine.

Some of the weapons were neat.

I don't think I'm going to have that problem; after a solid play session I only got to the part where you fight alongside the other guy for a while.

But then again - I'm really slow and methodical with most games, even FPS. iirc It took me over two weeks of regular playing to finish FEAR.

It did have a sound issue when I first tried to play it - namely, there was none. I had to scour the internet to find a fix.
