If you're ever a little bored and want to see some genuinely WTF products, just browse Amazon's kitchen gadgets some time.

They make orange peelers. Seriously. Orange peelers.

I heard a guy on the radio this morning ranting about specialized hipster kitchen gadgets. Here's a link to the article, but it's behind a WSJ paywall. I haven't read it, but maybe someone here can...

Orange peelers have existed for a very long time. Had one back in the '80's.

You can find lot of weird stuff in general on Amazon, like a 55 gallon drum of lube. lol.

It's scary when you get into electrical stuff, some of it is downright unsafe. At least the cheap stuff. What sucks about "free trade" is that these companies are allowed to sell that stuff to us, but if you built that stuff here and tried to sell it here you would not be allowed. But meanwhile these companies in China don't even need to get the stuff UL or CSA approved and can sell to anyone.

I would have been equally amazed that such a thing existed back in the 80s.

Did you lose it? Wear it out? How do you live now without an orange peeler? :)

Ok so perculator machine it is, I just tried it out and it turned out fine even with small amount. For the actual coffee, just went with Maxwell House. Going to experiment and see what I like best, but I tend to switch it up every now and then anyway. At work I use Folgers, or sometimes various K cups that we have in the store. I think I prefer the Maxwell House to Folgers actually. May still experiment with grinding or French press later on.

This post will ensure this ends up a 20 page thread. Well done. :p

Which brand whole beans do you like?
Local blend. Like I said, don't care any more. I go for volume these days. 1.4L a day.

PS more of Italian, Turkish or Vietnamese coffee guy as opposed to American.

And not a coffee connoisseur.

It belonged to my parents, not sure if my mom still has it. Don't need it any more since I don't eat Navel Oranges any more.

I'm not very picky either, just used the 20% off coupon for Jet and ordered some bulk beans.

Err the whole selling point to navel orange is that it is hand peelable...

I don't eat oranges that often but I tend to just bite into it to get it started. Or if I juice, I just juice the whole thing. lol. Same with lemon.

Man, I love Satsumas. They just smell like Christmas to me. I used to get them as stocking stuffers as a kid.

Ya, when I was a kid it was the only time they were available. These days though between the 3 I mentioned, that are all very close to the same, they are available all year round these days.

A lot of folks down home have satsuma trees, so there are tons of fresh satsumas right around the time it gets cool enough to go outside, usually around Thanksgiving. :p
