Single Samsung 256G Pro Vs 2 128G in Raid-0

Well I'm finally going SSD. I plan on partitioning where I have a 30G Fat32 Drive as a Boot Partition with space for miscellaneous app buffering. Win7 64 Bit will reside on an 80G NTFS partition the rest of the 146G's assigned for Video Encoding. I have 2 WD5001AALS HDD's in reserve.

What should I do? Buy the Samsung 256 Pro and run the 2 WD5001AALS_HDD in Raid-0 with a 3rd mechanical drive as Back Up or what?

Advise appreciated.

My RIG: i7 2700k/ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3/Corsair H110 (running @ .996v/1600Mhz to 1.376v/4600Mhz 24/7 between 36 to 67C), 4 x's 4 sticks of Samsung MV-3V4G3D-US DDR3 running at 1.5v/1866Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T, XFX 850W Pro Black modular PSU, EVGA e-GeForce GTX 280, 2 x's WD5001AALS HDD's, Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 case - Looking forward to adding a Samsung 840 Pro SSD and updating the VGA.

I would choose the 256GB model. It has faster writes, plus is usually cheaper $/GB.

Yeah, go with 256GB. I went RAID 0 just to get 240GB into one partition. The speed bump was welcome, but is not necessary in day-to-day/ gaming use.

OK Guys and Gals I ordered from NewEgg CA a MZ-7PD256BW for 251.99 and a WD1002FAEX for 74.99 (Good price). Order Totals $380.27 buy the time TAX, Handling and Shipping is applied - Geez $54 additional charges in Canada - NOT Cheap.

I'll Use the Samsung 256G Pro as a Boot Drive with 3 Partitions 30G Fat32 Boot Partition + Assigning App-Buffering/80G Win7 64 Bit OS NTFS Partition and the remaining space approx 146G's NTFS for Video Encoding between 2 X's WD5001AALS HDD's in Raid-0 and use the 1T WD1002FAEX for Storage and Backup.

Revised RIG:
i7 2700k/ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3/Corsair H110 (running @ .996v/1600Mhz to 1.376v/4600Mhz 24/7 between 36 to 67C), 4 x's 4 sticks of Samsung MV-3V4G3D-US DDR3 running at 1.5v/1866Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T (Fastest Ram I've come across), XFX 850W Pro Black modular PSU, EVGA e-GeForce GTX 280, 1 Samsung 256G Pro as Boot Drive, 2 x's WD5001AALS HDD's in Raid-0 and 1 x's WD1002FAEX, Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 case, ASUS DRW-24B3ST/BLK/G/AS optical drive, numerous Usb 2 & 3 USB Flash Thumbs and a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1250 PCI-e.

Looking forward to updating the VGA perhaps an EVGA 02G-P4-2678-KR GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 with the old GTX 280 assigned to Physic's-X would be nice; but, I'm not much of a Gamer.

I've got approx $1,500 Canadian LOONIES in her now and that does not include a 120Mhz LCD/LED Monitor or a descent Video card; but she's a 5+Ghz Rig ;o)
