Turn off DHCP.

I honestly have to laugh at how many times my router was hit when I turned off encryption by accident before I moved. The catch? I had DHCP hosted through a server that I had taken offline while packing to move from Florida, which made me migrate my machines to Static IP's in the meantime.

I just took a look at the routers log files - several authentication requests, but not a single unidentified client connection. I guess wanna-be hackers are really just that dumb.

Not a bad way to discourage people if you don't want to use encryption. I'm sure most of those people weren't wannabe hackers as much as just people looking to borrow an open connection, but I'm sure you already knew that ;)

Obviously people can still sniff your unencrypted traffic, so this isn't so much a security feature as a way to keep people from sucking up your bandwidth.
