I want to pick up two of the 4GB Super Talents for a SB build and also want to build a small HTPC. The HTPC is not going to need 8GB of RAM so I only want to use a single 4GB. Is this going to hurt anything by just using one module?

yah unless you are using shared video ram that is where it can do weird things to video out. stick with a good htpc card like the nvidia GT430 (Best 3d card i've found)

my HTPC in my bedroom is a dual core atom with an ION chipset and 4GB of memory. plays everything in HD without problems. i've never had any "video out" problems nor ever heard of it.
