I don't believe I suggested otherwise. Having said that, I don't know what percentage of the population has good pitch, and I don't think I have listened to a sufficient number of renditions of Happy Birthday to have a good sample set.

anyone can sing for personal enjoyment. I tought a class in grad school where almost every 1 of my students could barely sing in tune when I was playing the melody along with them.

I had them try to sing out of pitch and learn to feel the discord not only hear it. When it comes to tone and line most of that is genetic but for the most part even the wholly tone deaf can be taught to understand the difference between dissonance and true pitch.


If you were closer to Indy I would give you a free lesson mixy. I only have a few students now because of my health the last few years. It seems like you have had some training before so really its a matter of you getting outside your comfort zone and learn Solfege and apply it to your singing.

I know its corny but learn a few arias from the 24 Italian songs and Arias book and make a video and I will gladly give you a ATOT style masterclass.

Reminds me of Jimmy Hendrix interview I listened to the other day as that new movie is coming out.

People had to convince him to sing.

When I was in the Marines I'd occasionally call cadence while marching and I was pretty good at it, the other guys liked it.

Later on in bands I was asked to try to sing a few times with some while drumming, I told the they probably aren't going to like it.

Tried it out a few times in practice with a couple they didn't, fortunately most the bands I'd played with had plenty of vocals all ready.

I find it hard to really move around on a set and sing myself to begin with.

I'd rather get into my playing.
