is 97.3 alright?

it's probably around normal for you. it means the fever is gone, because your body has determined that the pathogens in your system have been sufficiently killed off by it.

98.6 is perfect. When I take my temp it reads 1 degree less then normal typically and my Doctor said that is normal even for the digital thermometers they use in the clinic.

Yeah, it's fine. I almost always read a degree lower when I'm healthy, so I wouldn't worry at all.

so basically im 'normal' now with a 97 degree temp...im wondering if i should even go in and get my body checked heh

If you suffer from a lower than normal temp, it could mean something ... or, it could not. I, myself, suffer from a lower than normal temp - 96.5 - 97.0 range. But, I also have lots of symptoms that bother me: cold feet and hands, high cholesterol, very low metabolism, etc. However, my thyroid tests are in the "normal" range. But, due to these other symptoms - along with the lower than average temp, I'm going to see a specialst soon to get my issues sorted out. I suspect that I'll be put on a thyroid medication so that my temp evens out a bit and could stay on the low 98 range - so I don't have to freeze all the time.

To research this more, you could head to Google and search for: Low basal temperature thyroid -- lots of good reading. 🙂

Oh, one more thing. 98.6 F degrees is an "average" temp. Keep in mind that like a median number, half of the population could fall below this number and half could fall above it.

I was going to point this out myself. Take your temperature some time when you are feeling fine to get an idea of what normal is for you.

(I stuck the apostrophe in there, since we're also all spelling/grammar/punctuation experts too)

I'll prescribe a couple slices of pizza.. 😀

What's there to check out. Do you feel fine now? How long have you been sick. What can the doctor possibly do for you? IMHO this is one of the reasons for sky high medical costs. I won't see a doctor unless I am bed ridden sick for 3 days or more. My 2 kids recently had fevers that reached a high of 104. They are fine after a week of illness. They didn't see the doctor as there would be nothing he could do for them. Had they hit 105 and stayed there for awhile(30min-hour without a reduction) I would have taken them to the emergency room.

I guess my point is unless you have been sick for awhile or are in a high risk category for getting worse I wouldn't even think of seeing a doctor. Just drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest and you will be fine in a couple days.

Hmmm it IS flu season and this has been a HORRIBLE year for the flu.
I ahd temps of 102+ for 4 days then BAM 98.6 perfect.

98.6 is the average person's normal body temp. Some people run a little lower, and some run a little higher. My temp is usually around 97 as well. 😀
