since when does Levi's think they can charge $150 for a pair of jeans and get away with it?

that's insane
I wouldn't pay $10 for Levi's
but you want a pair i'm sure.

it's the allure of something being pricey.

We've been told by many people on ATOT that expensive clothes must magically be made of such high quality materials/workmanship that they supposedly last ~10 times longer than standard clothes. At the same time they magically don't go out of style either. Thus in the long run it is supposedly cheaper. I've seen dozens of threads here where people claim logic like that is true .

I'll try to find some quotes from other threads:

Exactly. AF clothes are built to last. Their stitch and build quality are top notch.

Designer goods are generally made from better quality materials (higher thread cotton) and more sophisticated construction (double threaded). Better quality dyes are used that resist fading.

It's not Levi's that's charging that much . It's POS store.
I pick up mine at JC Penney.

Actually...................
I've been working with and wearing the Levis brand for over 15 years and I can tell you a little about the jeans I think you may be refering to; sounds as id they may be from the premium or vintage Levis lines. Levis is not just button fly 501 and slim bootcut comwboy jeans anymore, the entire company has transformed in a huge brand with "sub" brands that have branched out, some of which have even been licensed out by now. Any jeans that you saw at a levis store or departmnet had to be part of either the Premium Levis line ($80-$200) or the Vintage Levis line ($150-$380). The premium levis line offers jeans constructed of premium fabrics and special edition finishes (many times hand made details which means no two are exactly alike-Pretty cool- RIGHT?? if you are a jeans person and lets face it today everyone is a jeans person- denim is everywhere!). The vintage line offers jeans that are usually a replica of a pair of jeans which has some historical company or society importance, for example, they once made a replicate of the jeans that the miners used to wear, they were the only pants that held up to the tough conditions and in the replica Levis really tried to display what a real pair of jeans would look like after and while it was being used by the miners(this was doen after a old pair of original levis was discovered)- they also made a replica of the original 501 jeans from back in 1847. The levis vintage line usually attracts loyal levi's consumers, hardcore collectors, and fashion headz (when an occasional celebrity is spotted wearing vintage products)
This is a great source for anything Levi's check out DecoDenim.com Levi Jeans

Yep, buy my jeans at Target for under $30 most of the time, less if they're on sale. Plus I get the wife's 10% discount as well.
