Since when did Verizon use Dynamic instead of PPPoE

I had been under the impression that GTE/Verizon in the Los Angeles, CA area only used PPPoE but I discovered that some customers are getting dynamic service instead.

I was setting up a friends network and was able to connect with no setup of the router or winpoet. The router was unable to connect via pppoe only through dynamic.

I assume that your friends connection is DSL??? PPPoE only works on DSL.

Tonec, PPPoE is dynamic service.

And they started doing dynamic service sometime after Spring 1999. That's when I got it, and I got static.
