Since newegg rocks - are their extended warranties cool?

episodic

Anyone bought and used a newegg extended warranty?

Please save the "extended warranty is a statistically bad investment' - I understand that.

This is going to be for a fairly delicate high use item that I'm willing to 'loose' the money over if I have some piece of mind.

I'm looking at their net replacement plan. . .

Thoughts and experiences?

They aren't really Newegg warranties, just sold by Newegg, so be wary.

I had an extended warranty on a Zen Xtra from the company that Buy.com uses (here2fix) because of the lousy 90-day Creative warranty.

When the Zen died, it took 3 months and 9 phone calls to get my store credit to buy a replacement.

I gather most other extended warranty companies are about as bad, though it was still better than being out the full cost of the Zen.

I was kind of hoping that since it was sold by the egg, they would pick someone good. . .

Sucks, it took that long.

This is for a panasonic fz8 camera. . . I looked at the factory warranty and parts of the warranty go for one year, another part only lasts 6 months - and I carry my camera everywhere, and I will use it alot.

I've never had a panasonic before, and I hear lots of 'raves' about them, but I would feel alot better if I had another year of product replacement. In two years, I'll get the next model anyhow. . .

Note that my fun was with Buy.com's here2fix not Newegg's Service.net. This article (from google "service.net extended warranty") makes Serivce.net seem like a more reputable service.

Can you use a CC that doubles your warranty? 2 years parts / 1 year labor isn't too bad.

I cut up my credit cards years ago, and only use prepaid credit cards online. I think I'll give it a try. Newegg has always done me right, and I have a feeling that if I had a problem they'd help me muddle through it. . .

what card does this.

Call VISA and ask them if your flavor of VISA card has it...

I have a Chase VISA and it does. The guy said I can mail them a copy of the receipt/serial #/ etc... and they will store the info for me in case I need warranty service from mo. 13-24

VISA info here
