I hope it's just as creative and funny as the new episodes are.

Yeah, let's hope they dig real deep with the writing talent on this one. I'd hate to see the current forms of humor define this movie :( I want classic moments in hilarity, not cheezy spoof humor

not sure if I'm excited or sad that this is going to happen. I think it spells the doom of the series. They should wait till the series is done, take a year off and then do the movie.

I think they should've done the movie back when it was in it's high point of popularity. That what the South Park creators did. I know many people didn't watch the South Park movie, but a lot less would watch it now than when it came out a few years back.

I am a HUGE fan (and, by the way, resent people who are so picayune about the fact the show is not as good as it once was - it is still by far the funniest show on TV), but this is almost certainly a bad idea. I have high hopes but low expectations for this. I just can't imagine it maintaining the very quick pace of the best episodes over the length of a feature.

I can name off about 50 shows that are funnier than The Simpsons. That show has really gone downhill, and I'm not just saying that to "be part of the in-crowd". I stood behind The Simpsons while others were bashing it for the longest time, and now even I have to admit they're really stretching things quite a bit... That's not to say the show doesn't have it's moments, it's still The Simpsons after all, just that it's simply not as good as it used to be and some of the plots are just plain stupid.
I'll watch just about anything on Comedy Central before I'll watch The Simpsons ;) Oh, and the only way someone could even possibly get away with saying The Simpsons is "still the funniest show on tv" is because Family Guy's not on tv anymore (unless you count re-runs) ;)
Family Guy pwns The Simpsons. End of story.

RIP The Simpsons.

I will miss your original humor and dry wit, and I pray that you will be remembered for what you were, not what you have become.

From what I understand the movie has been in the works for a couple years now. It was first originally reported two years ago. At the time, they said the movie will come out, after the final season of the Simpsons. I guess they are planning on the end of the Simpsons.

I read something about 3-4 years ago that said that they would end the series finale with an appearance on the big screen. Expect this movie to be the end of the simpsons.

I don't think there are even 50 other comedy shows on television, unless you get deep into the cable channels. I didn't like Family Guy myself but will concede it was a decent show. As far as I can see, the only current shows that compare to the Simpsons are Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and neither is consistently funnier.

They should make a simpson's real life movie, like non-animated..

Anyone remember the flintstones movie?

That was pretty awesome back when i saw it...

However, I am a pretty boring bastard that likes a lot of weird and wonderful things..

Don't worry if you miss the movie when it comes out. We figure "The Simpsons: The Movie: The Novel" by Norman Mailer (who also penned the "Itchy and Scratchy" novelization) won't be far behind.
