Remember such episodes of the Simpsons when they were really enjoyable? I think their peak was back in the mid90's to late 90's.. Afterwards, the stories eventually got a bit weird.. They like to incorporate a lot of current up to date music and the jokes are too analytical. It's a little too political.

I enjoyed the Simpsons when it was easier to understand and when you were a kid back then, it was like watching LOONEY TUnes when watching Simpsons, simple..

Now, it's freaking complicated and i have a hard time trying to pay attention to it.. Iusually just flip channels now and go watch something else like KING OF THE HILL or something.. Now that's a cartoon with more meaning in it. There's a moral in the cartoon, unlike Simpsons.

I hate how they say something then immediately show a scenario demostrating that even when it makes absolutely no sense at all.

Yea tonights episode was rather disappointing. Perhaps they are saving all the good stuff for their movie.

I guess it all depends on how old you are.

I personally thought the peak for the Simpsons was very early 90s-- when I was 12, 13, 14ish.

You think they were best in the mid to late 90s, probably when you were 12, 13, 14ish... correct?

samething with family guy, the new ones are just terrible aside from the occational laugh. the whole episode now is just one flashback after another involing peter doing some random sh!t with 2 or 3 poorly developed "events" going on in the background. It's like they've already run out of ideas after only 3 seasons. Here is a hint, GO BACK TO BEING COHERENT! I don't care if the story is stupid or mundane, I just want it to make sense.

I think their official "jump the shark" point was when they did the whole "who shot mr. burns" thing.

BEcasue we are so dissapointed in what had become an icon.

Probably why so many people latched onto futurama when they started seeing what they used to see on the simpsons.

Its nerd cool to hate the new simpsons.

Its not as good as it used to be, but its still better than most of television. And DEAR GOD you are demented if you think ANYTHING king of the hill has produced is better than ANYTHING the simpsons has produced.

Lets see you come up with a new and creative idea for the Simpons with a good plot and that would be funny that hasnt already been done before.

They have something like 14 seasons, of course they are running out of ideas.

And they've been renewed up to season 19.

Sad, really. They should have ended it around season 10 or so. I can't really think of any iconic episodes in recent years. Their best stuff was probably seasons eight and before.

Some of my absolute favorite episodes were in seasons 11 and 12.

My experience is when you watch a new episode for the first time, its kinda 'meh', but as you watch it as a rerun, it tends to be funnier. They started showing last season in syndication and it seems funnier than it was when I saw them new.

I think part of the reason why it seems to be getting worse is because the posters on this thread are older now than they used to be.

Old Simpsons episodes were enjoyable for both kids and adults. They had simple humor while tying the whole episode in some type of allusion. Take the episode where Marge decides to do some stage show taken from the play "A Streetcar Named Desire". Those were brilliant.

The Simpson's writers should've went out on top of their game. the show has run it's course over and over now.
