As to why? I can only guess I had to set a date and time when I first hooked it up (I don't recall if I did or not) and it's built into the game.

It was kinda freaky at first. I thought my son was bullsh1tting me 🙂.

It's programmed to work for Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas. You can set the date on your xbox to see each one

New Year's theme:
Set the system date to January 1st to see various things in the game change to a New Year's theme.

Halloween theme:
Set the system date to October 31st to see various things in the game change to a Halloween theme.

Thanksgiving theme:
Set the system date to the last hursday in November to see various things in the game change to a Thanksgiving theme.

Christmas theme:
