Simply for fun but I am curious, who would win...?

Those who love Bush love him dearly. I would say *almost* as much as the people that love Clinton (Bill). Term limits aside, who would win in November? Bush or Bill Boy? I don't think any of the cast of character the dems have assembled this go around can unseat the king from his thrown.

Reagan at his prime vs. Clinton at his would be a far more interesting matchup, methinks.

Bush...no question...

Clinton could hold an approval rating of 51% regardless of what he was suspected or accused of. However, his popularity never really skyrocketed the way Bush's has.

Also I have to agree with glenn1. Clinton vs. Reagan would be a more interesting matchup.

I don't think that has much to do with Bush himself, rather the times in which he has governed. And I agree with glenn1 - that would be very interesting to watch indeed

Are you kidding? Clinton Vs. Reagan would be a *slaughter*, and all that would be left of Clinton would be the Cigar :) Let's look at the facts:

In the 1980 Presidential elections, in the popular vote Reagan received about 51% of the ballots (and 489 electoral votes) to Carter's 42% (49 electoral votes) and John Anderson's 7% (no electoral votes). Reagan swept all but six states and the District of Columbia. In 1984, when the ballots were counted, Reagan had scored an even wider margin of victory than in 1980. He won every state except the challenger's home state of Minnesota and the District of Columbia, for a total of 525 electoral votes, the greatest number ever tallied by a presidential candidate in U.S. history. He also received 58.77% of the Popular vote.

By contrast, In 1992, Bill Clinton won with an Electoral College victory of 370 to 168. In the Popular vote, Clinton?s winning percentage was 43%. In 1996 he won only 49 percent of the popular vote and carried only 31 of 50 states, (and as an aside, he was the only president to win twice without once having more than half of the popular vote. For those who, after Gore's defeat, wanted to ban the Electoral College, you should remember that Bill Clinton would likely not have been elected president without it.)

No, I'm afraid it WOULDN'T be an interesting election at all; Reagan would have crushed Clinton with ease.

How do you figure? 1n 1992 Clinton garnered 43% of the popular vote, Bush 38% and Perot 19%. Exactly who would you declare ther winner

True, in '92 Perot really offset the race by a ton ;) Regardless, Direct Democracy is *still* a bad idea, so let's just keep the Electoral College intact ;)
