Yup, IBM knows what the fvck they are doing. I"m an IT admin at an engineering company and we use IBM exclusively now. They seriously rock. They have the best customer support and documentation out there. They build computers to last a long time, using only the best parts. When you open up one of their computers, everything fits so perfectly.

There's a reason why they are number 1 and one of the first ones out there.

Only the new ones😉 Tell me that about my Aptiva P166 with an Opti Viper chipset😉😛
We bought an Aptiva (P133) in '96-'97 and it still works perfect now, even after I gutted it... the main components are still humming along.

It works but it should be sooo much faster.
You're right.. we paid $2700 for the thing !!!!!

They simply replaced and entire display unit. It looks like they also updated the BIOS and defragmented the HDD.

shens.

I've dealt with IBM tons, and they wouldn't do that. It introduces too much liability (defrag hdd, and it for some reason fails, or upgrade bios and it causes other misc software problems)

Agreed. I love their tech support. Its soooo much better than Dell's now.

I've dealt with a few IBM lappies @ government site, and boy do I still see some oldie moldies lying around. The screen is somewhat faded but damn they last.

My Dell Inspiron I bought 3yrs ago died. Part of it was my own doing.

My next lappy is most likely the IBM T42 🙂
