i've got several enclosures that offer raid support, and each one has had a jumper on the board to choose raid or not.

The manual says that there is only a switch that allows you to choose between RAID 0 and RAID 1. A read a few reviews of this device and they say the same thing.

That's wierd. I ordered ten of the single-drive enclosures, and five of the dual-drive enclosures, and they all came FedEx.

Anyone tried setting up a RAID in this yet?

Just wondering if I need to set up a RAID for the drives outside of the enclosure, or if I can insert same size drives into the enclosure, switch the switch to RAID I and be good.

I slapped 2 1 gig drives into it and put it to Raid 1. Seems to work fine after many hours.

Note: Make sure your drives are blank when you put them in or else the enclosure will try to duplicate one across to the other. DOH!!!! on my part.

anyone know if it supports 1.5 TB drives? i have a 1.5 TB drive sitting around, and the description says 1TB max. now usually that doesnt mean much, but sometimes the ones with raid onboard, doesnt work with over 1TB or some ceiling.

I went ahead and ordered 3 more. I'll put a couple more pairs of drives together and have an extra just in case of them fvcks up. It is not worth it to ship it back for RMA.

Good to know. Will save some re-transferring instead of formatting and starting new.

Now if only I could get Win7 to let go of the drive I just removed and start up correctly...

Several reports on FW that 1.5TB works, at least for RAID 1. Unknown about RAID 0.

Alright, so I am having a hell of a time getting these things to work in RAID 1. How do they need to be formatted before being put in?

It's easier if you start with two blank drives. After you turn the unit on, take a paper clip or something and shove it into the reset hole. Then it will automatically create the mirrors on each drive. While it's doing this, the red and white lights will flash. When the white light become solid, you're ready to go.

I didn't even realize it had a reset button. Messed around putting the two drives in a RAID 1 configuration outside of the enclosure, formatted them, hell I even left them unallocated, but no dice. Damn reset button.
