Simple Si-120 question

i have a question about my Si-120 , i'm installing it onto a DFI ultra-d , i haven't been able to find any pictures of an Si-120 on an ultra-D so i was wondering which way do i mount the bracket, and which direction the heat pipes point?

The SI-120 is physically similiar to my XP-120 and the heatpipes are perpendicular to the socket plate mounting screws, thus on your board they would be upward towards your memory or down towards your PCI Express X4 slot (your preference). Heatpipes do not rely on gravity to work, so either position on your board should be fine.

Thermalright reports no incompatabilities except with a Chaintech board, so the SI-120 should work great with your board.

Some heatpipes do require the assistance of gravity - like the ones that are empty on the inside except for the working fluid. Pipes with wicks don't need gravity.

Yours will point up towards the memory or down towards the slots.

I recommend you install it so the pipes face down. That way it's easier to install memory in the future and also the memory gets cooled better.
