Building a desktop to replace the one that died on my mom a while ago. Its main use will be for her work. That mostly means internet and email. There are two caveats however.

-She generally has 10 or more windows open at a time (whether it's email manager, multiple browser windows, or other programs)
-She does use photoshop, but only for simple things (making cards, business cards, letters with pictures on them)

Lying around we have a coolmax 400 watt psu and a 250 gig seagate 7200.9 hdd that I plan to use along with everything else.

*Notes*
-I am not over clocking
-The computer will be running XP 32-bit
-There is no budget per se, but I'm trying to keep everything under $300 USD (including shipping)
-I know I could get a sempron for about half the price of the x2 3600, but I feel the price increase is well worth the performance increase; this is the only option I'm married to, I'm flexible on the other selections

Build
Motherboard: 49.99
BIOSTAR NF520-A2

CPU: 63.99
X2 3600+ Brisbane

Memory: 74.99
Wintec Ampo 2GB

Video Card: 45.99
Chaintech 7300 LE

Case: 34.99
Rosewill R5717-P

Total: $269.95

I feel pretty confident about most of the build, the only parts I'm not sure are needed are the ram and video card.
Even though she keeps a ton of programs open, I was figuring since most of them are simple that one gig of ram should be sufficient.
And for the video card, I'm almost positive she'd be fine with integrated graphics except for that minor photo shop work. Is integrated fine, or once again should I play it safe and pick up the video card?

If integrated graphics and 1 gig ram would be fine (or any combination of the two) I was looking at the following options:

Motherboard: 75.99
GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3

Memory: 39.99
WINTEC AMPO 1GB

So what do you guys think? Is my initial build fine? Should I go with IGP, 1 gig memory, or some combination of the two? Are any of the parts I've selected known to be troublesome?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

How about this Gigabyte MB with on-board NVidia 6100 chipset, and PCIe x16 (x8 speed) just in case the on-board is not enough, and 2GB RAM to compensate for the loss of Shared VRAM.

I am using HP Compaq laptop with 2GB shared RAM, 128 VRAM on ATI x200 chipset, Sempron 3300 mobile 2.0GHz CPU, running Vista Home Premium.

Little slow, but perfectly fine for the applications like your Mom's.

This mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813138074 is $65 and has Nvidia (also supports 4 SATA2) 7025 video. There are combos now for $117 to $123 with brisbane X2 CPUs. One IDE port (2 devices) only, same with the 6100 chipset you mentioned. You could do without the video card with this mobo or the 6100 series.

I'm currently using the Nvidia 6150 (mine has 2 IDE ports that I use for HD and CD) chipset with 1 Gb ram and it's working well for the light purposes you mentioned.

I just built a machine with the biostar 7050 board and got a SATA2 320 GB and SATA samsung DVD with it. There is a noticeable improvement transfering large files using SATA2, but the IDE on the 6100 series is by no means slow.
