Right so on my older pc with XP i am the only user (admin of course) and when i turn the pc on i see the blue welcome screen and it goes straight into windows after that as the programs load

now on my new build with xp as well i am also the only user and also the admin, but it stays at the welcome screen asking me to choose a user: which there is only one option for (me)

i have to clikc my name to get into windows, well this is too slow and annoying for me

i have looked under account management in control panel but there is no options that i founf to control this

Anyone can help me out here ? much appreciated

andrei3333,

Get the older version of TweakUI from Microsoft.com and go to the Log On page, check "Log on automatically." The old TweakUI program is 111 KB. If you can't get the older version, try the new one. Lots of great tweaks available.

Open your thread for e-mail and I'll send you the older copy.

start>run>control userpasswords2

Uncheck the checkbox that says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."
Click OK and enter your username & password when prompted.

I skipped nothing.
Click the start button, click run, type control userpasswords2. Hit enter.
Uncheck the checkbox that says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."
Click OK and enter your username & password when prompted.

WTF? I copied and pasted the last part from my original post...unless you mean the "hit enter" after typing in the run dialog part, which should be common sense.

If you don't have a password, leave it blank when prompted.

What does the bios have to do with a windows user/password issue? FWIW .net can cause you to see the logon screen. Read more...
