Simple problem

I've always had this problem. Whenever I try to play .avi, .mpeg, DivX, etc., all I get with WinMedia player, WinAmp, etc., is just the audio. I know it's some software problem but I've tried different players and it ain't happenin'.

1. How can I fix this and

2. What is the best all-formats player.

you can download just the codecs at www.divx.com they will work for WMP
