Simple pop-up "To-do" list?

Hi. For some reason I'm getting into to-do lists to get my stuff done by personal deadlines. I was wondering if there's a very simple, non-resource consuming program out there (that I can't seem to find) that just maybe hides in the taskbar, and when you click on it, it displays your current things to do (sortable), their deadlines, and time till their deadline from the current. Is there anything that meets these criteria? Thanks for the help.

MS Outlook (full, not express) does this but it's kinda overkill.

3M - the guys who make post-it notes had a piece of software that was like post it notes for your PC. I think this may be exactly what you're looking for.

Hmm... 3M's a little too bulky (I don't want it to stay on the screen), and I only have outlook express, although I might have it on CD and try to find it. In the meantime, does anyone else know of anything useful? Even if it's just like a little excel-type worksheet that pops out of the side of your screen, it'd be cool... I'm just annoyed at havingt to keep it on my computer or write it out by hand all the time.

Get windows tak manager to open a notepad file with the required text in it? Dunno if you can do that, and it might not be the least resource hungry program out there, but it's free.

It has a feature where it can be hidden (sent to sleep!) for a certain period, or until a specified date and time, to act as a reminder

I've used a program called Calendarscope and in conjunction with DS Clock that you can get from the same site may provide the function you need.
Calendarscope will nag you if you do not buy, but all functions will remain.
Cool feature is that if you hover over the time, it will show your appointments/things to do.

All my notes and phone books and such are still in a directory called \sk

Makes no sense to anyone but a few old timers...

I remember how annoyed I was when they improved it and made it Sidekick Plus. I could have strangled the people at Borland for turning that responsive, just-right-for-the-job TSR into a hard-drive-grinding behemoth. I don't believe that I have since seen a tool so well-suited to the particular tasks of keeping a simple, quickly available to do list and appointment calendar with alarms. I first ran it on systems that had no hard drives. It was responsive even on those machines.
