I think the topic speaks for itself so pick a poll.

I built mine with alot of trading, selling of my goods, and the FS/FT forum and saved alot of money :D

AsRock Dual Sata II
AMD A64 939 3500 clocked @ 2400
1gig of ddr 400
WD 250 Sata Hdd
WD 250 Pata HDD
WD 250 Pata Hdd
Hercules Game Theater XP
ATI AIW X1900
Nzxt Nemesis Case with cool lights and 3 120mm lighted Aluminum fans :D
Compaq P1210 22" CRT
Built it all on my own with no help from anyone. Now give me a Cookie.

Any yes by todays standards its old school (especialy my sound card but SB sucks) and some day I want to upgrade to that new Intel Chip :D

built mine by saving up for a while and asking my dad for some xmas money instead of a gift! :p

Athlon64 2800+ (1.8ghz)
1.5GB PC3200 DDR
Asus K8V-X Mobo
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb
Creative Soundblaster Audigy OEM
1x 200GB WD
1x 160GB Maxtor
1x 120GB WD
DVD-RW
17" Samsung LCD
Logitech MX300 Mouse
Logitech Messenger Webcam
regular $5 keyboard

i somewhat regret this nowadays because i bought the HDs so early and they were all IDE (actually i only bought the 160GB at the time, the others I bought later on)... my mobo has onboard SATA RAID but since i don't have a single SATA HD that's tough luck for me...
it's also a S754 Athlon64 + mobo so goodbye upgrades!

all in all its pretty solid! the most demanding game I play is Civ4 and if i'm downloading a bunch of multi-GB torrents at the same time it can get kinda slow from time to time, even on medium... I love it though and because of the specs, my next upgrade will have to be a complete overhaul, which isn't necessarily a bad thing! ;)

Look at my rigs link.

I built mine, but because of processor speeds stalling, it's more than a couple years old now and still fast. I used to build a new one every year or so.

I've built all but one of my PCs.
I got a dell server several years back when the 120GB drives were new. I wound up paying like $350 for the server (which had two 120GB drives in it.) So, pretty much I paid retail for the drives and got the server free.

That being said, my Windows Box X2 4200+, 2GB PC3200DDR, x1800xt, about 1TB of drivespace (mix of SATA and PATA drives), 24inch 1920x1200 LCD & 19inch CRT

my MythTV box Hauppage PVR150, Athlon XP 2500+ mobile, 512mb PC2700 DDR, Geforce TI4200, 200GB PATA & 400GB SATA, 61inch rear projection (via s-video)

my Server Dell cheap server with a 1.8ghz Celeron and 384MB of ECC PC2100DDR. 640GB drivespace (4 x 120, 1 x 160), 19inch CRT

my "box with a dead power supply" A64 3000+ 768MB pc2700DDR, 200GB PATA, Radeon 9700 Pro, 19inch CRT

Then there's also the "parts leftover after multiple upgrades that eventually I'll pick up a chassis and power supply for and then give away to one of my cousins.

I haven't bought a pre-built since 1998. The three in my house are currently all built by me... and two of them out of spare parts that I've accumulated or been given over the years :p
