Simple Password Protection sought

My Toshiba 2GB USB mem stick with U3 has a built-in password mechanism.

Is there a easy way to put a password on my external USB hard drive? It's a 80GB 2.5" notebook drive in a generic enclosure.

Many options. Popular ones are Encrypted File System:

and an encrypted folder managed by an application. A # of companies offer this. Both paid & free. Here's a free one:

Either will slow down the access. The best way would be to encrypt the sensitive files/folders, rather than the entire drive.

I like truecrypt set to travel drive mode. Then it works eveywhere (for the most part) and keeps your stuff protected.
