Simple Free Video editor (titles, credits, cut/paste) for school charity project Where ??

I took on the job of taping a play for my sons school, and I thought that the software that came with my All-in-Wonder would work to add titles and credits, and cut/paste sections of the video that turned out bad in one copy (multiple tapings of the same play), but it won't. I spent quite a while on the internet, and google searches, and haven't found anything. Since it is for the school, and I may never use it again, I don't want to buy software for this pupose. Can anybody here suggest an easy to use freeware program ?? (no illegal copies, I want it to be free legally)

Depending on what OS you have, you may want to try:

Microsoft's Movie Maker

I installed XP on one of my PC's just to try movie maker, but it doesn't have anything for credits or titles that I can find. Just cut and paste parts of the clips that got created. It was 60 minutes, and created over 100 clips ! That OK, but I still need titles and credits. Thanks for your reply, and any other input would be great !
