Simple Case question- I hope?

Alright so here's the deal. Currently I am stationed somewhere (military) where I have only a ~17" height clearance (width and depth are not an issue) in my walllocker where I can fit my computer. This obviously creates some issues in regards to getting an ATX case. I've found a few at 16" but I don't care for any of them and I'm still a bit iffy about shoving something in with that little of clearance (might not fit).

I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to putting together computers but I started looking at MicroATX cases due to their much shorter height. I however have one concern about getting a MicroATX: heat. I planned on having the following which I am concerned about keeping cool:

Visiontek Raedon HD 4870
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz

I don't plan on overclocking at all. I have also heard about the 4870 not fitting very easily into ATX cases, let alone MicroATX. I figure I would ask what my best options (if any) would be since you all seem to know much more then I. Thanks in advance.

Is the computer for gaming? The 4870 leads me to believe so. Since you're not overclocking the E8400 is a better chip for gaming and will generate less heat than the quad.

If your display is 22" or smaller I would also consider stepping down to the 4850, which has a better chance of fitting in a small case. (And it will use less power and generate less heat.)

If you can find an Antec Super LanBoy out there, those were pretty short while still being ATX.
And if you take the feet off of a Chenbro SR105xx it'll squeak in under 17"... And XOxide has some Chenming compact cases that claim to be exactly 17" - their feet are removable too.

PS: And what's with the Chicom avatar? That's the American military you're in, isn't it? .bh.
