Found this at Buy.Com

Kodak DC3400 Digital Camera $269.95
Standard shipping is $5-$6

This is a Buy.com "Deal of the Day" special, so I don't know how long the deal is good for.

There's a $15 off $150 coupon floating around and $30 off $300 if you plan to get more items.

Good find.

I've used both cameras extensively. My opinion is that the DC3400 is a better overall camera when it comes to the part that counts most-picture quality. It beats the DC4800 on indoor pictures in most cases, and I give it a slight edge on outdoor pictures. The difference in resolution really isn't that big a deal in most cases. I guess if you need the absolute best resolution possible, you might be better off going with the DC4800, but in many cases I don't think you will notice much difference. You might want to head over to the Kodak website-they have sample pics taken with both camera-and judge for yourself. The DC4800 gives you more control over aperature setting and color balance setting than the DC3400, but if you usually point and shoot, that doesn't matter much either. Also, a minor point, but one that bugs me is that the DC4800 has a "pop-up" flash. If in the "down" position, you must remember to pop it up before you can take a flash picture. The DC3400 flash is always ready, a much better arrangement in my opinion. I bought the DC4800 when it was available for under $400 a few months ago, but knowing what I know now, I sure wouldn't pay $300 more for it than you can get the DC3400 for. That is my 2 cents worth.

The 4800 walks all over the 3400. If you're clever you can get it for a reasonable price.

The only reason to get the 3400 is if you don't intend to ever print the images, at least not very large. The 4800 has many features for special effects built in if you're interested in using it artisticly.

If you want something to post images on the web, or view them on a computer, the 3400 is fine.

If I were going to get this camera I'd PM Staples and use a $40 coupon. Even with the tax it's cheaper, and you have 30 days to play with it and then return it if you don't want it. Be sure to tell Staples CSR that digital cameras take a few days to ship, and not to try to charge overnight shipping on the PM.

Seattle: Did you have a good experience buying from that web vendor you provided link for? (US1Digital.com)
It could be one of those Bait and Switch scammers from the NY/NJ area. Check out:

LucJoe: The 4800 also has greater optical zoom than the 3400.

I don't think that Seattle meant to buy from US1...I think he meant Price match Staples with them. However, Staples.com, at least, does not carry the 4800 anymore. I think they took a bath on it in April to June.

You're right--deal is over--that was really short lived! But I did order 2, so if anyone is interested . . . (I'm selling extra one on eBeigh.)

Seattle: I misread your message. Unfortunately--no Staples where I live 🙁

If you checked some of the other posts, you will find that staples has stopped carring the DC4800. Kodak has discontinued production. You'll have to check the BM stores.
