There can't be any trees or rocks in the way... and you have to OWN the land to plant there.
You buy land by going to the map and clicking on the Dollar icon.

Oranges are where it's at.
I just sold 10 fields at $15000 each! :)

BTW, you can keep crops in the silos for over a year to wait for the market to rise.
Yeah, I found the problem - I didn't own ONE row of land where I was trying to plant.:$

Also, oranges? Is that a different version? I don't have that as an option to plant.
Edit: Ooooooh, I see now. "Load Crop." Never saw that before.

Sounds like a load of crop to me.

Ok, how the hell do you use the plane to spray? I finally got about 15 fields going and all i do is spend my time clicking on a field to spray.

After oranges are a few years old, they do not require any spraying.
Also, they do not require combines to harvest as Beau said.

I just sold 16 fields for $39k each!

After I own the whole map, I will quit this game for another 10 years.

Don't oranges just rape you in spraying? I ran them for 2 seasons. I couldn't even keep up with the spraying. My lands were 100% toxic and they demanded pesticide still!!!!

WTF.

I lost half a million maintaining 27 fields. Went back to strawberries. If you want cruise control just pick Sorghum. no spraying forl ike 5 seasons in a row LOL

Yeah, it just becomes a game of spraying. No fun. And raising livestock is absolutely worthless.

I have 20 some fields of oranges and after 2 years I haven't sprayed a single field.
They are on auto pilot.
I am in Georgia, high heat, high rain, low wind.

Yeah, livestock are worthless.

I am bored with this game after 3 days of playing :)

Now on to SimAnt!

I prefer SimAnt

I remember we had this on the computers in elementary school. I used to love it.

I had SimEarth at one point. Being the god of your own planet seemed cool at the time but that game was colossally boring. You could basically just set it on fast mode and it would literally play itself.

Yeah, I just gave simearth another whirl too. Creating robots and then boiling off the world's oceans was fun.

Wow, oranges are easy. Strawberries take a hell of a lot of babysitting.

The main limiting thing then is the old interface. Building a huge, orderly farm is quite tedious.

Nostalgiaing complete.

I played that like crazy when I was a kid, it was an awesome game. I had the entire map and grew oranges. I also had a lot of farm animals but didn't like raising them much as they would always break through the fence, so then I had to build fences, within fences, within fences lol.

Are you using the DOS version? I'm running Win version and the Oranges there are terrible. It's spray 24/7. On strawberries I can spray once or 1.5 times during the whole season for each (fertilizers maybe 2 or 3 times), but with Oranges its flashing pesticide, herbicide, fungicide every 2 seconds. By the time I finish a round of spraying, one of them will come back. Maybe I shouldnt run a mega 38 field farm, but it's not hard to click that fast.... Strawberries was a piece of cake for me.

See I just sprayed and the disease and weeds already came back up. My field is flashing those icons AND it's overly toxic already. WTF.

Fly it around, use HOME key to open the taps, and to land it, press END key when you're over the airstrip.
