simcity source code cleaned up and released!

just found this on slashdot yesterday. i've been playing with this for a few hours and it's still just as addictive as i remember back in middle school.

here's the source code.
in case you can't compile the tcl/tk version, here's a patch. this patch works for compiling on linux as well.

Interesting. Is this the original version? I got briefly addicted to simcity 2000 back in the day.

I'm not sure if I should hope that all my old favourite games get open sourced or not. It'd be lots of fun but boy would it waste a lot of time!

That's pretty nice there. Well, here is to hoping Blood by monolith gets open sourced and GPL'd, well even though it plays perfectly on DOSBOX under my Fedora machine, but it would be cool to mod the heck out of Blood or make a Linux port out of it...

I'm waiting for a good ubuntu package for it. Apparently the guys over at the ubuntu forums are still having problems with resolution.

yeah, it's at 1200x900. i've tried playing around with the source to change that but to no avail. i've found the files that contain window geometry data, but changing those values don't seem to do much.

btw, you can just compile and run the program without using any package. it's not too hard to do

The gentoo guys are saying you have to add the

-fomg-optimize

cflag in order to get it to work. It makes your sims act like they're on crack.
