I have been looking for a smilie that could be used to indicate that the thread contains stats. Something like a pie chart? If someone can make one or find one that is free to use, we could have the admins install it.

Subject: BoincSimap - Trouble-Solving questions

Hi dajeepster,
this is Jonathan from the BoincSIMAP Admin-team writing.

We would much appreciate if you could help us solving some problems:
If you are willing to do so, please read on, otherwise: Sorry to have bothered you, just bin this mail!

We are currently looking into some error-details of the new Win64 Simap app,
and I found your two hosts (ids 159852 and 159810) are essentially the while still differing:
One trashes a bunch of WUs, the other doesn't.

So could you shed some light on this by telling me the differences between your host 159852 (the core2Quad with the ATI HD2600) - which is behaving perfectly -
and your other Win7 host 159810 (core2Quad with ATI HD4600) - which trashes quite a few WUs with checkpointing problems.

I'm looking for things like:
Firewall-software,
Virus scanners
Background defragmentation tools,
and stuff like that.

If you could compile me a short list of differences you know of and send them over,
we'd greatly appreciate it.

Of course, any data you send us regarding your hosts will be treated confidentially!

With best regards
-Jonathan

159852 (the core2Quad with the ATI HD2600)
2gigs ram
running Windows7 RTM 64bit(version 7600)
running microsoft essentials antivirus
also crunching:
-collatze conjecture on gpu
-seti@home

host 159810 (core2Quad with ATI HD4600)
8gigs ram
running Windows7 RC2 64bit(version 7100)
running mcaffee antivirus ver8.6i (i think)
also crunching:
-collatz conjecture on gpu
-seti@home

the work units that 159810 crunches on seti and collatz are fine... same with host 159852.
these computers are dedicated crunchers... no other software is running except for boinc, the antivirus, and the catalyst control panal.

hope this helps... let me know if you need more information... I'm currently not in front of the computers right now. host 159852 has only been up and running for about a month. host 159810 has been up and running for a couple years with an OS reinstal about 14 months ago... windows 7 RC2 was upgraded on it about a month ago.
I'll recheck host 159852 once I get home and let you know what I find.
thanks for the heads up.

has anyone else had any wu trashing from thier crunchers?

I have had that problem before with some project ... Spinhenge it was.
Now the BOINC-directories are exempted from AV-scans and all is well.
BTW: I use the Avast AV.

I'm not sure how I will handle this, but free-DC did another update of SIMAP about 5 hours ago.

I think I will stick with the 2200 UTC for now, even if I have to diddle some numbers.
