That says, it’s just a hotfix, to use game-patching terminology, while the root problem is much deeper. It’s “always-on” that’s a the core of the issue, and until DRM can promise that games will be available to play on launch day, we’ll keep having these problems. This is a bandaid on a bullet wound, but it’s something, I suppose.

I have been able to play a couple hours each day... but NOT WITHOUT DIFFICULTIES...

My playtime has been midmornings US Central Time... like 9am-Noon-ish
I have played on the US East 1 and East 2 servers. But it constantly has flickered the message at the top left sayying disconnected from server, attempting to reconnect, then reconnected then disconnected, etc, etc...
I have had to close the game and reopen it to change cities each time, even if they were in the same region. I had some time warps on Tuesday and Wednesday but not when I was playing yesterday (Friday). I also tried gifting one of my own cities some Simoleons and they disappeared into the great unknown 🙁

So overall my ability to play while significantly hampered has been possible... And I am certainly not in any way linked to EA or Origin... lol

Yes I think its being dubbed as the "convoy" bug. It happens a lot with service vehicles and I think they've acknowledged it as a bug.

For ex you have a fire station with 3 trucks, it will send one after one to the point where you have your whole force fighting one fire.

It happens every so often

Ya I saw a pic of that happening on reddit. Using shortest route path *face palm*

Oh damn. I don't have a PC that will run this but I have said before there is no wrath like a slighted gamer. This is getting a ONE STAR on amazon, not even a 1.5. That HAS to be hurting sales. This total cluster F by EA is absolutely hurting sales because with now 1600+ poor reviews on amazon even if the servers get perfect tomorrow those poor reviews will still be there, and the biggest sales price on a game is when it's new and right now people are steering away (not just from amazon). I am sure most of these reviews aren't even people who bought it, just spurned gamers throwing the developer under the bus to snipe at EA.

Mass Effect 3 was a great game but had a bad ending and people trashed it on amazon. For a game that can't even be played? Oh my. That is a box you don't want to open.

Jaysus. IGN is reserving their review for now but other publications have just gone ahead and done it (http://www.gamespot.com/simcity/rev...5012/?tag=Topslot;SimcityReview;SimcityReview). EA has, because of this DRM, cost absolutely many millions in sales that they'll never get back.

Try deleting the files in your /SimCityUserData directory. EA had posted that in the last day or two for people who either had problems updating the game or had trouble with authentication. Worked for me. I haven't had any problems logging in or playing this evening.

The game will repopulate those files. They are basically config and temp files.

Thanks, I tried that last night with no luck but this morning it is working for me. Almost all the servers report available too.

Drives me absolutely fucking nuts. It's irritatingly obvious the AI goes "Find shortest distance, use shortest distance regardless of traffic." I have my fire marshal bitching constantly about how slow my trucks are because they're sitting in a row in traffic when they could have easily taken a side street with no traffic that would have gotten them there in a quarter the time at a slightly longer distance.

Finally did something and said something. Better than nothing.

Certainly a step in the right direction.

Soundtrack for this game is A++, who ever worked on it did an amazing job.

I really enjoy the soundtrack.

Ok.... so where the heck is my region and city? Grr.... I have to remember which servers I connected to? Greeeeat...

From EA's forums --

I applaud the move. I've been able to play on the EU and ASIA/PAC servers every evening since launch. The game has its issues, but at its heart, it's a lot of fun. More importantly, they are trying to make amends and do right by their customers.

Anyone know if you can move buildings that you put down and pay for like an trade station, fire house, etc?

I sometimes put them in the wrong area...and noticed there is no way AFAIK to move them?

All right - I have prototype 2 that can't play because of a known memory leak which can't be fixed because the developer team no longer exists. I had Medieval 2 that never worked until patch 1.04 months later, and even Medal of Honor that had players spawning to their death underneath the plane of the 3D map on it's release.

Maybe they should be doing something to hold these companies more accountable, as it looks like it is not improving and people are still buying their crap.

This brought up a question, are you able to designate one-way streets like in citiesxl?

The second video of the cars going in the loop is ridiculous. Perhaps it's purposely coded to do this so that traffic spread out and it looks more natural instead of having a few streets flooded with cars with all other streets empty. But, this is suppose to be a city simulator, not a 'pretend to look like a city' simulator.

I've been playing on America West 2 since yesterday afternoon with no difficulties or waiting so I guess the worst is past for many of us. Still waiting for them to restore some of the features but at least the game is playable.

Nothing can forgive EA for such a huge blunder, but a free game is a start I guess. I just hope we can choose from the entire EA catalog on Origin and not just from some small selection of older titles. There are a couple of recent titles I would mind choosing from.

No, and it's the one thing I really miss. It's frustrating to not be able to control downtown traffic flow with one way streets. Hopefully it will be added in a future patch and not dlc.

Think I'll play some SimCity4 today after reading this thread😛

Yeah I have been playing a lot of Sim City 4 recently. I'm going to skip Sim City 5, until maybe it is 10 dollars or if there is ever a way to get it without Origin. I'm still holding out to never buy a game that is only available on Origin.
