I think I would prefer the waterfalls and just build another fusion plant.

Is that version, simcity 2000 I believe, the version where if you got enough of those monster buildings they all say screw you and fly into space?

It was 2k and it was awesome.

Yeah, build 349 and they all basically blow up. The game comes with a bunch of premade cities, 349arco is one of them loading it up starts the process as the city starts with 349 launch arcologies.

So apparently they're doing maintenance on the servers to get them fixed and have the issues resolved. They didn't notify any player at all that they were doing this. I found out because I was getting, "Login is closed at this time. Please try again later." Which I realize is a ridiculous problem to get the 2nd day of the game. Anyway, I surfed Reddit and found a post that linked me to the EA Sim City HQ forums which had a post/announcement in there that they were closing the servers today to repair everything.

I just wanted to play! In no way am I mad though because I expected this to happen thanks to them not preloading and such.

Where did you hear this? Link

I can still login and play fine.

Opened up sim city at lunch, mainly just to see if my city came back... And it did! Excitement! Granted the last 10-20 minutes of changes weren't saved, but still.

After 5 minutes or so of messing with zoning I got a really bizarre popup message that said something along the lines of "a problem was detected with your city, please either click reload or quit the game"

Ok... really weird.... But reload since that's the only choice of the two buttons and I can't go back to the game.

"City could not be reloaded"

Went back to the main menu, go back to open my city and

"City could not be reloaded"

Quit the game, went back to my city and

"City could not be reloaded"

Argggggg. This is really terrible. A few days ago I thought it was just people whining like they always do, but this is really ridiculous.

It's REALLY tough to get "connected" to your city or game when you feel like it could be lost at any moment.

I've played other games that required some sort of internet connection or whatever.. Things like windows live gaming logins for batman, rockstar account for GTA, crap like that..

And people just bitch and moan and whine over an inconvenience, and yes it's not fair and on and on, but at LEAST you can play the friggin game.

This is the first game I've bought that had THIS many issues... I mean major, unplayable, "I want my money back" type of things.

I signed up for origin and paid for this with my amex, if I can't play when I get home tonight I will call and get the charge reversed.

What's is the typical population of a city in 2013? If it can grow into a 100-200k city using the space, then I would imagine having a larger scale map with nothing but building and road spam would not make that much difference to me.

Personally I don't even care about the city sizes at this point.

I just want to be able to open the singleplayer game and play it as advertised, without getting booted from the 'server' and without completely losing my city.

Well with more population your income would scale so you could build more shit. As it stands, a lot of things are pretty damn expensive to build in this game.

Cloud gaming will become the future. I can't imagine it going anywhere else right now. Obviously there are some hick ups with the resources involved making it work, but rest assure, having the ability for a publisher to control the content you play will be a tremendous boost for them. Not to mention, when all the resources will soon be rendered on servers and then emulated on your computer, just imagine how much money you would save on computer hardware alone.

Hopefully, I'll be dead and gone by then.

I guess that is one way of looking at it. Do you earn a lot of income from neighboring towns?

This is why I don't buy on launch day. I'm waiting for the first decent sale before I pick this up. Everything should be fixed by then.

I've been playing on America West 2 on and off all day with no problems logging on. I'm curious what the specific circumstances are that is keeping some people offline.
