I am OK with online-only mode, as long as I can check people who build next time me, as long as they work WITH me, and not try to destroy my city somehow.

Wow that looks to be shaping up quite nicely. It appears the game tracks every resident of the city by giving them a name etc. That's going to be quite impressive in a huge metropolis.

If I need to upgrade my rig by the time this one comes out, I will gladly do it.

I'm not all that excited, mostly due to the fact that we have almost a decades worth of custom content for SC4, and the community is still highly active and dedicated.

Same.

IGN has a new article talking about the regions. Of particular importance is how this affects the single-player experience (something I've been focusing on and have been saying won't affect us after their AMA information:

Up until now, most of the gameplay we’ve seen from SimCity has centred on either city-play, or the multiplayer features on offer regionally. In this demo though, Maxis finally showed three different cities in a region being controlled by one player. To support solo play, the team has created an interface that makes managing multiple cities a hell of a lot smoother than we’ve seen in previous games. Most notable is the region view map which, aside from being easy to navigate, offers a real-time bird’s eye view of all your cities going about their business. Getting into the action is nice and swift, too; one-click zooms you into a city so you can fulfil your mayoral duties, without a single loading screen to be found, meaning play in each region feels that much more immediate.

Singleplayer is there 🙂

The downside? Tile sizes are ridiculously small, and from what I've seen, looked to be spaced out (so no simulation of an actual city by building four tiles next to each other). At this price point, and without larger city sizes, I'm not going to be buying this.

Yeah, at best it's Sim-Suburbia. My money will go elsewhere.

Beta will be free to play next weekend. Details here:

Also, apparently some beta footage of the tutorial has been "leaked" online here:

Funny how it's been up for hours and EA hasn't done anything yet. Could be viral marketing. *shrug*

Game does look good but the fact that you have to be online to play it really seems odd for a Sim City game. I guess I'm getting old or something.

I wasn't sure about this game until I watched the videos and how much fun it looks like playing with a friend would be. I think it'll be a day one purchase for me.

SimCity is all about building huge megapolis! How can they not know that?

Yeah, this is basically SimTown, 2k x 2k is freaking small. This is probably my biggest issue with the game besides the always online and not being able to restore to other save points. I'm sure anyone who has played Simcity has doing random alien invasions and other stuff on their cities they spent a lot of time building to just mess around and then reload it back before hell broke loose.

wait. no ability to save? ugh nothing i hated more then getting a great city and a fucking alien, tornado, fire destroyed the city.

hopefully they make it bigger though. it looks great but yeah that is small.

The beta allows you to play for 1 hour LOL

lol ok so beta is usless.

Yeah, it is all cloud saved. You can't reload from a previous point. They won't make it bigger either from what I remember. SimTown is the new SimCity 🙁

But yeah 1 hour to play a game like this. I mean most people will spend most of that time reading various descriptions and how things work lol
