I just tried to move the sim out of my old RZR and into my old blackberry 8700g, but i cant make a call. I get 1 bar and the time is correct, but thats it.

What could the problem be?

Blackberries run entirely off the blackberry network. You need a blackberry plan for anything to happen on a BB phone.

100% WRONG.

ANY GSM SIM will work in an unlocked BlackBerry. You may only get Voice and GPRS data, but you will ONLY be missing BlackBerry service, not service entirely.

All modern BlackBerrys are regular devices with advanced email functionality, not some specific device on a proprietry network.

Speaker, is the 8700G an unlocked phone? You can only change SIMs in cell phones that are network unlocked.

Here's a quick way to check if the phone is unlocked:

It's the instructions on how to enter an unlock code, but you'll really only need to go to step 6 to find out if it's locked.

If it's locked, you'll need to get an unlock code like the guys above you have mentioned. You can try get this from the phone provider, or from a third party unlocker. (just google unlock blackberry or search on eBay for the same thing)
