OK, so I have this case (Powmax w/450 PSU) and I don't like it. Feel free to laugh. It's flimsy, full of dents when I got it, and the panels are bent so it's difficult to put them back on. I also fear that the Powmax PSU will destroy my computer (I already need a new mobo, don't know if it's related to PSU) since the 12V fluctuates from about 12.00V to over 12.42V (that doesn't look good). So I've learned my lesson when it comes to buying a cheap case: DON'T.

Anywho, I figure that the first order of business is to replace the PSU as I think the case can support it's own weight for a little longer. Me being a poor college student can't afford the $90 Seasonics and Antec that would be oh so nice to have, but I don't want to buy another cheap PSU. Enter you, the reader. I've been looking around and found the following, which seems to have gotten good reviews on Newegg and on various other sites when searching Google:

Silverstone 400W PSU SST-ST400

The only complaints reviewers seemed to have is that it has only 5 Molex connectors, which isn't a big deal for me since my current Powmax has only 4 (I have 3 splitters). The 12V rail has 3 more amps on it than my "450W" Powmax for a total of 18A. I also like the 120mm fan.

So, waddya think? Would this be a good choice or is there something less expensive that will work? Should I just keep the Powmax and see if it dies and replace it then (though I don't want it to kill something later on)? Please see my signature for my specs (click on "Compusaurus"; yeah, bad name but it'll work) for info on what this will be powering. I plan to keep this PSU for future builds (Athlon 64, anyone?), so what may be overkill now may not be in the future. Any suggestions for a nice case (sturdy, not gaudy, with window, also not too expensive) are welcome as well.

Thanks in advance for reading my little novel and helping.

The Silverstone PSUs are excellent (made by Enhance). I've been recommending them for the last few months.

Thank you, Zepper! That's just what I was hoping for. Let's see if anyone else has anything to add.

They are decent. (Is seasonic the same thing... im 100% sure but i think they are different) If you like that stuff a 300Watt Seasonic is a gret one along with Zalmans. Also though they are expensive i have heard the OCZ's are fairly quiet (nothing on the seasonic or anything ;) )
