atleast thats what I saw today, i think the deal is good for the rest of the month. YMMV since I only glanced in passing when I was there.

Sylvania makes them for motorcycles... at least on the Silverstar webpage they list an "H4 ST (for motorcycles)" but then I guess it depends on the bike... lucky me, I get to buy 3 bulbs!! dang these things are expensive to keep up!!!

what bike do you have?

If you pricematch them to Kragen (checkers, schucks...) they will sell them to you for $16 and change. You get a 5% discount for the pricematch. Might have to show them the ad though. I live in Fresno and got 2 pairs. They are great. Not blue, just bright white as hell. Nice upgrade.

The silverstars are actually a higher K output than the cool blue bulbs offered by Sylvania

No Pepboys around here :( If anyone can grab an extra pair of 9006, I will pay $25 for them plus shipping.

Mods...If this is against the rules I will edit my post.

Went to PepBoys after one of my SilverStar went out on me and the one I went to didn't have them for $20... I went to WalMart and got them at their price of $37.99. These bulbs are really great for night driving...they dont give that ghetto look of colored head lights, but you will notice the difference! I wonder if I could get the one the blew covered under warrenty

The yellow fogs of today are worthless, so it's almost a myth that they help you see better. If you think you see better it's probably a placebo effect.

The thing is, yellow lights USED to help you see better, but the method used to make them had large amounts of carcinogens as byproducts. So the new method of making yellow lights is to just spray some yellow coating in front to turn the light yellow. For obvious reasons, this ends up lowering brightness considerably, and reverses any gains you'd get from having yellow light. If you can find the really old yellow bulbs that were made without spraying yellow coating, those are actually good(and carcinogenic).

I found this out while researching new headlights...there's some pretty hot technology out there...way better than silverstars available. Also, way more costly =( (I'm not talking about HID, I meant bulbs you can swap in).

What are the new hot bulbs better than Silverstars?

Since Silverstars do not show the yellow portions of the light spectrum, the bulbs have to burn brighter to produce the same amount of light as a regular halogen bulb at the same wattage. As you know, anything that runs hotter or burns brighter than standard is not gonna last as long. Most people seem to get about a year of life out of them. Up to you i guess if you want to put $40 bucks worth of headlights in your car every year just so the light output can look white.

You're not the only one using them either. On average, the Silverstars last significantly shorter than high quality non-coated bulbs for the reason stated. Even Sylvania themselves gives a low rating for the life expectancy of their Silverstar bulbs. These are blue-coated, overdriven, glare-producing overpriced bulbs - Sylvania didn't want to get left out of the profit-generating ricer "hyper white" bulb market. My brother runs them and he's happy with them, but all he cares about is that the lights look white instead of yellow. The non-coated Sylvania XtraVision is a better choice.

Lucky you, but most don't get that life. That plus the reported rain visibility problems are enought to keep me away.

Maybe DRL is the reason "most don't get that life" out of these lamps?

Even with OEM headlights, you can barely see on rainy days.

The brightness of the light goes down as you use them, that's why when you install new bulbs, of course they are brighter.

If you want the best, go with Philips VisionPlus.
