Silverado SS

I saw Car and Driver TV today and they showed this thing off... spokesperson for Chevy said that a similar truck will see production... damn this thing is sweet... they mentioned 475HP/Torque for this thing.. if it comes out anywhere near what this truck looks like (and with that much power) this will give the Lightning a definite run for its money, hell IMHO it looks killer...

anyway, thought you guys/gals would be interested

prefer the Lightning

dodge also has a viper-v10 powered SRT/10 truck going production to join the Lightning and Silverado SS

<< It looks like Detroit rice.

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 looks much better.

aww cmon, looks nothing like rice... only the clear tailights make it look like that... and hell Ford took the cake w/ the Lightning on that one. Anyway, I think it looks very nice...

I did hear about the Dodge, that should be interesting, but w/ the Viper engine it should also cost more than the Lightning and maybe the SS (if it ever sees production, the SS i mean).

Semi-rice, but it was pretty fast

Did you see the yellow tiger-shark vette (I think that was the name)
750hp, 690lb/ft (something like that)
That thing was awesome to watch on the drag strip.....just jumped when shifting. DAYM!

"The Dodge Ram SRT-10 looks much better."

Eew, that's damning with faint praise!. They both have a way to go to be up to the Lightning's standard, as far as looks go. I don't get sucked into bolt on body gewgaws and wheels, like you guys seem to, but even a quick glance gives the Lightning the nod. I can't imagine GM releasing anything looking like that, either! 😕

Has Chrysler confirmed they are green-lighting the V-10-powered Ram? I had not heard that. Frankly I can't see going with that truck, given the enormous cost and frequency of maintenance that Viper engines require, which would make it unrealistic to drive such a truck every day. R&T published an article on buying a used Viper recently, and I was horrified by the amount of maintenance that Chrysler recommends.

for starters it wont look like that at all, the Unibody is already voted out........ Ford proved the Unibody to not work DECADE'S ago

2nd they will not do a 6.6 litre version LS1 in production, the aluminum walls can't handle the stroke in longevity........ Production will have a Supercharged LQ4

And 3rd for all the Dodge SRT guys out there... the 8.3 motor alone is $25,000 the Lightning is $32,000 for the ENTIRE truck, plus the SRT is only 7 tenth's of a second faster in the 1/4 mile.... for starters the Harley Davidson edition is the best, it adds usefulness with the extra cab plus good tow rating... for the price the SRT will run you would atleast expect an Auto to provide better towing, or an extra cab... something to add to value... instead it's a viper on stilts... I'd get the Z06

They said it will make production and yes I agree, putting the V-10 in seems a mistake to me also.... If they were smart they would stick their new Hemi in there with a SC ontop.
