Ugh, the wheels are basically a dead rip-off.

My absolute biggest complaint and pet-peeve about GM trucks are....Look at the ugly ass interior of that thing!!!!!

OMG it looks straight outta the eighties. That's just pathetic. The seats are nasty looking. The leather seats in the L are nice. I mean for 39k, couldn't they have sprused it up a bit?? Some nice captians chairs and a middle console??

"Chevrolet recently announced pricing for the Silverado SS starting at around $39,000"

Also the fact that it cost close to 10k more than the L

I'll keep the Lightining thank you very much.

I own a 2000 GMC extended cab and I love the truck, including the interior. The 5300 engine has plenty of power, the ride is smooth, and the interior is free of rattles. However, this is in comparison to my previous generation Chevy truck. But, I am not too keen on the new front end skin for the Chevrolet trucks. It does not seem to blend in with the remainder of the truck.

Did anyone notice in the picture of the SS interior it appears the is no carpet, instead there is plastic? I would hope for that price it would come with carpet.

GM is expecting people to pay $39,000 for the X-Cab SS. NOOOOOOOO thanks.

I was interested in it, but not any longer. Way way way way too much money for all the more that you get.

Re-read the article. The extended cab version is $39,000, and has leather captains chairs. The standard cab SS is targeted to be under $30,000 and has the cloth bench.

Those wheels are fuuuuggglllyyy :)

I can't belive they are doing that either, the LQ9 motor is easy to attain, the hardest part to get is the C3 X-fercase which I'm guessing can be had for no more then $2000

But I will NEVER own a regular cab again in my life also ;) But I'd never own a 2WD either ;)

I couldn't tell from the article, is this one going to be 2WD, or AWD like the X-Cab SS? What I want, is for GM to turbo the I6 that they have and dump it into the new S-10 replacement, make that their performance truck, and offer an extended cab version. More reasonable price, less weight to have to move, and it's small enough to be fun to drive, yet big enough to still be somewhat functional like a truck should be.

They have some sort of psuedo-swuade thing going on in there. Not full blow leather seats like the bucket seats that the SS is going to have.

the new I6... bummer is it's 10:1 compression :(

But they were smart enough, (unlike most companies) to leave engine room under the hood of the new trucks to put in the SB V8's, the LQ9 should find it's way under the hood of this

This truck in the article is AWD

Well it's leather and cloth :) but the interior to the L is 10x that of the SS. The interior and dash in the Silverado's just kill me. To pay 30k for a truck and for the seats to look like a work bench...yuck.

Sorry the article is about the Regular Cab, which hasn't even been given the green light. They still expect the extended cab to be 39k. Does an extended cab really have a 10k premium over the regular cab? That put's this truck in the price range of the HD F150. But have you seen the Inside of the HD F150 (not including the fact that it's 4 doors).

In other words, both these trucks lack the L and HD series from Ford. :)

Especially after you read this article.

"Don't expect to see the SS play with the Ford SVT F-150 Lightning or upcoming Dodge Ram SRT-10 out of the box. It's not going to happen without some aftermarket help."

"Where the 454SS and Lightning used to tie each other 0 to 60, the Lightning now hits that mark in 5.8 seconds. The Silverado SS probably won't come close to that. The C3 could hit 60 in 7.3 seconds and we expect the SS to come in right around that same time.""

No thanks. :) Personal stance. Better Interior, better performance. @ the same price. I think Chevy was going to try and compete, it appears they did it halfass just to sell some trucks to the Chevy SS faithful.

I agree, for $39K thats absured, especially for something as limited as a sport truck.... out of all of em, I'd just get a 03 Cobra if I was buying something new for sport :D

It's basically the truck version of the Envy/Trailblazer, it's got a very strong drivetrain, cept the T-case (everyone's T-cases suck now, ever since that push button crap) Other then that it's only get the I5 and the I4 though... I am pretty sure the I6 will come in next year.

I wonder if they make an electronic Atlas yet ;)

Envy isn't a bad little small/mid range SUV. Sounds like the Canyon has a good platform to build off of. I4/I5, bah. They definately need to bring the I6 and it'll make a nice little truck w/ decent power.

I'm missing something with the slur of pickuptruck.com. I don't see any references to gunracks, hank williams jr., Pabst Blue Ribbon, or picking up cousins. :)

First time i've ever seen that site (thanks Laust for link) but it seems pretty cool for truck news if you like trucks info.
