No one can blame you for being bland!

BUT to be fair it did look A LOT better on the road then in pictures I've seen. Just looks a bit off to me in pics. Just not for me.

But then I woudn't get a silver car and it seems by far the most popular car choice on the road!

Just yanking your plank, m8. 😛 My last car was silver...

Word. No more black cars for me either.

They're nice when they're clean and shiny. Can't get away driving for months without a wash though. It'll look nasty. Hah. I love going silver/gray. Anything inbetween white and black is nice because you can seriously get away without a wash for serious months. Even if I go into the mountains with snow I can get away with it looking like needing a wash but not too bad. If I do it in a black car it'll look like I just went offroading in mud.

silver was last decade around here... right when I got my license all I ever saw were silver 3 & 5-series BMWs and typical Hondas. Now they're eradicated and mostly white or black. I love white on sporty cars... classy & sporty at the same time.

for sedans silver and pearl are the best colors. so much better than the beige and dark green that were popular colors in the 90s.

my current car is dark blue and unless its just been detailed it shows something. my last car was silver and could sit outside in the rain and sprinklers and through construction zones all the time and you could hardly tell it had dirt on it.

I know mate 🙂

Saw a beautiful avus blue example today, going to get it check out the 2 recalls on pre 2002 cars and then get it checked by an independent and I'll get it 🙂

Ensure the service history is present and correct, including the important 1200 mile running in service (BMW will not honour any warranty if this is not correct).
Check round and under the car for the obvious accident damage and signs of track abuse.
Rear springs - They are prone to cracking.
Clutch - Mine was replaced at 28K!
Check Con Rod Bearing Recall has been done, pre 03 cars I think
Check RTABS (Rear Trailing Arm Bushes)
Check door seals, as the glue is not very good
Check Rear View auto-dimming Mirror. Check for blemishes on the mirror as this may indicate an imminent leak of the stuff inside it, which is nasty, some on US M3 website have reported failures of this.

Haveyou had your con rod bearing recall? What about your RTABS? I have the cars VIN so I'll call BMW up on Monday to see what it has done. Everything else on the car checks out beautifully!

Mine had the RB Recall, had the 1200 mile, not had any RTABS issues. I know someone that has had the goo drip out of the rear view mirror, but not on mine. I HAVE had the springs crack and replaced under warranty. Check for a 'pinging' sound from the rear end when getting in and out, as if some grit was in the spring cup. That's a sign you should get the springs checked. Holding the roof with the front window open and rocking the car has the same effect. If they have been replaced it won't be an issue ever again.

I had a new clutch and Flywheel at ~30k as the flywheel was out of balance, again all done on warranty.

OOh, oooh, ask the seller if it has ever had new coil packs. One of mine is giving a tickle in the damp right now. Symptoms are hesitation on part throttle, really gets shown up using cruise control. You'll feel the engine getting 'lumpy', which is VERY unlike an I6 motor. Individual coil packs are cheap and easy to fit, a whole new set of them is around £175. If your prospective car has Bremi packs a failure is inevitable. These are the same packs that cause VW all the pain a few years ago. Bosch packs are better, but I have 100% Bosch and looks like I still need to replace one of them again.

He had his rear springs replaced for Inspection II that he did at Ormistan BMW (Indy, the guy that owns it use to be a mechanic/ head mechanic at Cooper Thames Ditton). I spoke to him yesterday and he was cool.

I'll call BMW Monday to see if they have had the RB Recall. He can't remember about the RTABS issue himself but the RB Recall is the deal breaker as well as anything major that appears in the check that I'll have the Ormistan BMW Ind guy check out. But it looks fantastic, had a test drive and loved it.

He has a guy looking at it this afternoon and has had a few poor offers by email. I was the first to see it and it looked fantastic.
