A friend of mine told me he was having serious problems with this setup (the 4200+ x2 with the msi neo2 platinum), has anyone heard of any conflicts between these two components? I'm about to upgrade my cpu from a 3200+ (winny), to a 4200+ x2 and I actually have the neo2 platinum...thanks in advance!

As long as you upgrade your bios to one that will recognize the X2s before you install the X2 everything should work smoothly.

Update to bios 1.9b5 or greater at this site...

http://www.lejabeach.com/MSIK8N/k8nneo2.html

I booted up my 4400+ X2 with 1.8 bios back about 3 months ago and it ran fine just did not properly recognize the 2nd core....flashed it and I was fine....There are 1.9 and 1A officials so it is not a beta thing.....

One thing I can tell you is these bioses for some reason no longer give you the same vcore....

I set 1.55v and 8.3% and with my winnie it used to give me 1.57-1.58v ut now only give me 1.46-1.48v.....The whole setting does not work and hasn't for a bit...setting at auto set my chip to 1.296v and not 1.35v...It is enough to boot and in most cases likely would run and pass prime95....

1.4-1.5v sets the same vcore regardl;ess of setting..1.525v-1.55v set same vcore as beofre bu .025v more...So now I get 1.32v...still below default vcore....

SO....

I set 1.55v to get 1.32v actual....

tehn I use 3.3% over vid setting toi get 1.36v idle...as close to default as you are likely to get...

The highest I can get is using the 1.55v set and 10% to get 1.5-1.51v idle to about 1.53v load...Basic rule of thumb of 10% means I dont go over 1.5v and that is why I stick with 1.55v set and 8.3%. Also with my XP90c I stay around 51c load 24/7. With the 1.5v-1.53v I hit loads of mid 50's which is likely very safe, butwhy...for 2-3 more HTT?? NO Thanks!!!
