The system I'm building will be very red. IWill Canterwood board, ATI 9800 Pro - both as red as you can get. :D

But the heat plate on the GEIL sticks are either silver or gold in color. Now, I built my current system about two years ago when RAM didn't need / use heat absorbtion, so I'm not familiar with how they're attached.

Can they be removed, and replaced with other heat sinks from 3rd party vendors? Is there a "standard" that guarantees that any plate will fit on any stick of RAM?

I wouldnt mess with them , usually that voids your warranty, especially just to change the color.

mushkin offers different colored heatspreaders to choose from. but they dont have pc3700 ram if thats what you're looking for.

I would just go with silver. That pretty much matches most red pcbs because there is usually a fair amount of silver on red motherboards/red radeons anyways.

my system is red and black inside,

black motherboard, ram, soundcar, red video card, and maybe a tv wonder pro when it comes out, dunno what colot that will be

the GeIL dual channel memory kits use a copper colored heat spreader. that is fairly close to red. I would leave them alone
