Silent Water Cooling, What would have to be done

Silent PS, And only fans that don't make much noise? What Case

I'm looking to build a custom water kit for around 200 to 300?

What DB levels are your guys custom water kits and water kits at?
I have my computer in my room, it's so loud i can't sleep with it on.

No such thing as a silent computer. Water cooling may be quieter than air cooling at the same (cpu) speed.

I don't have any idea how some of you cannot sleep with the noise from a computer!

Back in July I made this video to show the long wait time on POST (Areca 1680ix-24 host) for folks on another forum. We were on our way to Bermuda doing 25 knots to keep ahead of Cristobal but we still hit 25 foot seas! :Q In the video you can hear the noise in the background. Some nights are like that and those nights are THE best for sleeping. Of course the rocking motion helps. ;)

You don't have to get silent, you just need quiet. It's all about the fans, when cooling with air or water. Having a good solid case helps a lot too.

What do you want to cool? Parts list?

Well thats the idea of water cooling. Allot of the noise from a system comes from a high end CPU cooler. Reducing the number of fans always helps to quiet things. But if you want to be able to sleep then shut the system off when you go to bed. Folding is the only reason i can think of for keeping thigs on overnight. But you don't have to fold 24/7.

I plan to do a 8400 and want 4ghz out of it
I already have a 4850 with a s1 and no fan
I don't want to run any case fans and a silent PS. I want to have the computer on 24/7 and keep it's DB as low. I want people to think the computer is not even running. But i want the computer to be cool. I want a strong but quite water cooling custom setup. I want a long life quite pump that works well.

Swiftech MCP655-B? 12v Water Pump w/ 3/8" Conversion Kit (317 GPH) Is this loud?

Swiftech MCP655? 12v Water Pump w/ Speed Control and 3/8" Conversion Kit (317 GPH) Is this loud i can seed the speed for lower to reduce noise.. but is that needed?

Also i was looking at the pumps with integrated reservoir are these any good?

http://www.frozencpu.com/produ...00.html?tl=g30c107s152 looks kinda of cheap tho any good?

http://www.frozencpu.com/produ...l?tl=g30c107s152#blank
I love the way it looks, but is it loud and does it work well

For Radiators whats a good one i can run without fans
Feser X-Changer Quad 120mm Xtreme Performance Radiator?

Or should i got with a radiator with very quite fans? Whats good out there?

why are you watercooling if your just going after 4ghz on a dualcore?

You could pull this off with a good sink and low spinning fans.

Also if your serious on water, you need to do some research. A lot of people mess up by leaping b4 they look.

The rads you are looking at is not designed for passive. Infact none of them are minus the ghetto alu towers. These rads need active cooling, hence why they have a casing and was designed to fit fans.

They will operate horribly unless you have at least low spinning yates inside.

open to more info

yate low speeds are very quiet and do a great job on a rad.

The PA series might be a better radiator for low speed fans also. The fesser radiator to me is not worth it in value.

If your able to do easy modifications the Soprano will work for a bottom mounted rad, lift it with wheels or a skirt and have the fans sucking in through the rad. Having the fans blowing into the case will help reduce noise as well. Lining your case w/ sound dampening material helps as well. In my case you do hear the pumps (2- 355's w/ XSPC tops) but they are not as loud as many air cooled systems I've had.

The 350 and 355 are the same pumps with slightly different motors. If quiet is you priority go with the 655 or the db-1. The 655 is a very good pump with decent head press, more quiet than the 355, 350 and reliable, the db-1 style take a big hit for head pressure, are suitable for single block / rad loops, and they are inaudible. I have all of these pumps and have used them all in different systems with good results. You need to narrow your goals more, the 355 w/ XSPC res-top is the best performer for low temps, high flow, the db-1 I would use in a recording studio because it is the most quiet of all.

Now for a power supply, is there any quite one that will give off enough power for a E8400

I'm thinking i should need at least 800watt?

What CPU and GPU water blocks at 1/2 do you like?

Before you jump into a PSU I would suggest reading jonny's stickies in the PSU
forum. That 550 you have may not be too bad.

Replace the PSU fan with a quiet one? Unless you plan to run 2 of those vid cards I don't think you need more juice. Post this question over in the PSU forum to find out for sure. Water cooling isn't cheap for a real good loop. I don't recall a budget for your pc but I'm cheap and hate to see money spent without need.

That's a real good idea

I was thinking EK Block for the CPU

Should i add my GPU to my loop, i already have a s1 (No noise and it's cool at 42c)
