Silencing the GPU

Here's the deal.

I just bought a 7600GT, and it can't even clock to 600 / 800 which to me seems a common if not average overclock for this card.

I figure, if it can't overclock at all, why not silence the noisy fan? [Anything above ~45%, I find incredibly noisy.]

What kind of GPU Cooler can I buy will Silence the 7600GT?
Something along these lines would be ideal.

you could always get the zalman coolers, can't go wrong with those. the Zalman ZM80A-HP is a fanless cooler, might want to check that out

you could use rivatuner to throttle the fan speed to ~35%, for me at that speed temps dont go up much and its MUCH quieter

yeah I happen to have a Zalman VF700-ALCU and just bought a EVGA 7600GT. Although the fan is noticeable in my case I don't know if it's enough to put it on. Even though EVGA allows it. I might put it on just to lower temps if nothing else.

Just get a Zalman VF700-Cu and be done with it. I have one on my factory OCed XFX 7600GT and it works great. It dropped my temps considerably and even on the full speed 12v setting it's vey quiet and I should know since the CM Centurion 5 case I have is definitely not the best when it comes to dampening fan noise.

You could also get a Zalman VF900-Cu instead but it's really overkill for a 7600GT, even an OCed one.

Yeah Sniper82, the heatpipe cooler does fit, but will it work without a fan? Is the question.
What would be a DECENT load temperature for the 7600GT. Meaning safe?

Right now I'm at ~68 load temperature with the fan at 40%, at which my extremely loud 120MM case fan is just below the noise.

Most people that I've seen discuss the topic seem to feel that under 70C is good, 70-80C is fair and over 80C you probably need to consider a new cooling solution. If your idle temperature is under 65C you should be safe.

Im sure a 7600GT uses the 6600 series PCB.

According to what I've seen from others on other websites, it fits just fine.
