Silencing my Lian-Li on the cheap

I've got a Lian-Li case that I very much enjoy. It's quite old, and uses the then-standard configuration of two 80mm fans in the front and one 80mm fan at the back, in addition to PSU, CPU, and GPU fans. It works very well, but now that I've got my fancy soundcard and open headphones attached to it I'm finding myself wishing it was a bit quieter.

Ideas I have include:

1. Putting something between the fan and the case. I tried this with EPP cellular foam on one fan, and it did not do much.

2. Gluing a thin sheet of roofer's rubber (1-2mm thick) too all the metal surfaces of the case to deaden them.

3. Ripping out the back half of the case and making a duct for the CPU fan. I'm not sure the best way to do this without eliminating the structural integrity of the case.

Thoughts?

can u somehow mod the 80mms to fit a 120mm? zip ties? lots of scotch tape? put it on the outside?

putting rubber between a fan and the case wont quiet down ur case unless it was causing vibrating noises beforehand.

EPDM helps a lot, I use 3M contact adhesive in the spray can to adhere it.
Here you can find fan adapters, if you can fit a larger fan it will be less noisy.
Rubber screws for the fans.
As someone said before, better quiet fans, yate loon makes an 80m that is very quiet.
Cut out the stamped steel grills, the are restrictive and cause noise.

I have an older Lian-Li case, and bought THIS. It allows you to mount a 120 mm fan in 3 5.25" bays. There are cheaper versions from other companies, but they won't match your case.

What are your complete specs? Perhaps you can change a component or two to reduce heat output. Low heat output means you don't need noisy fans.
