So this is the 3rd time he's reinstalled Windows because of all the viruses that's he's gotten from surfing crap sites. Now he's contracted the VX2 virus (according to adaware).

And he tried to reinstall windows, yet it doesn't detect any IDE devices. I'm thinking the HD is toast, but can it actually be toast because of the virus?
 
You need to make a backup of your brothers drive with windows and etc installed. Its much better restoring the whole drive in 15 minutes than having to spend hours loading windows and all the programs.
 
That sucks.

OMG I went to google.com and pressed alt F4 (because someone told me to) and google DISAPPEARED!!! I bet I have a virus now. OMG

Maybe partition table crapped up. Fdisk the baby. If not detected in BIOS, maybe more serious!

At least your brother knows how to reinstall windows. My 25 year old brother who lives at home with my parents keeps craping up their computer.

Hey, do you think maybe if I leave the computer that way he might go and find a girl?
