I actually haven't responded yet. The email was basically her requesting (read: whining for) admin rights on her computer because "everyone else around here has admin rights except me." (Which is untrue, BTW). The whole MBA thing just put me over the top.

Whats she do for a living?

Professional babysitter I guess you could call it. There is a new system our company is rolling out, and people in her position go to the different sites and babysit the new users as they learn the system. If there are no problems to report, they basically sit there and do nothing. There are a ton of people here doing the exact same position. At one point we were hiring an average of 15 a week.

question is what is her salary 🙂 more than yours? 🙂 hehe

edit: sweet, bumped a month old thread. w00t!

I do support for a college at my university. Everybody has ridiculous e-mail sigs, I swear its like an e-penis for the overpaid secretaries.

Example:

Mary Joe Farmer-Fvcker (I use this name because everyone in this department is a damn hick)
Administrative Secretary IV (Dunno what the IV means)
Assistant to Dean BlowHard
Agricultural & Extension Education
North Carolina State University
Building & Room #
Box #
Raleigh, NC Zipcode
Phone #
Fax #
E-mail Address

And no, I'm not kidding. I copied that nearly verbatim from an e-mail I got from one of them. Oh, and she was complaining that I set her e-mail up in Outlook and not Outlook Express.

haha, Go Pack!

Within my company, I'm mazer
When I send emails at work to outside vendors/customers, I am mazer, Ph.D. 😉

5.5 years in graduate school for three letters!

Once I finished up my schooling it'll be like that....but nursing is a well respected field so I dont know if people with mind if I sign my name and then have RN, BSN, MSN, NP, CCRN

When you do reply, you should sign it "Condescendingly yours, trmiv, OGPCGM (once got a piece of candy from the gumball machine)"

no, not on correspondence within USA. I could cite several degrees.

I hate pretentiousness.

On international correspondence I occasionally do, in countries where it's a normal style, depending on who it's to.
But not usually.

Hell no. I have my MBA for several years and I never put it in email or any correspondences. I only put it in the resume or whenever I need it.

The guy and gal I used to work with were CPAs but they never brag about them either.

I think any high ranking degree or position should be able to note it in any work related task. But outside of the work world I think its unecessary because noboday cares if you are an MD, CEO, or Ph.D.

FTW, lmao

But seriously, I don't know, I don't write my title, but maybe for some it is sort of their job requirement, and they're so used to writing it everywhere, so even when they email tech-support they write their title.
Though I do agree that when its written where its not neccesary it does sound someone's trying to tell you hey I'm MBA where's da red carpet?!

I think this practice goes along with the "inferiority complex" issues everyone seems to have.

One guy at work signs his with CPIM and whatever committees he is on. Another signs with MCSE,CNE,ITIL,PMP.

Ok people, I am sorry you work in IT and you feel inferior to the folks who have Computer Science degrees. Please don't try to make up for it by saying you know all because you have some ridiculous acronym behind your name.

Thanks for your time.

I think it's silly because an MBA isn't a certification degree like an MD or a DD are...Can't say I've seen it but I don't work with many MBAs either.

CPA would make sense...

I love people like that.
Demonstrate to me why you need admin rights. Oh, you can't? Nevermind, that just means you're not getting them.

MrLee, 4 years in college, still no degree but I make twice as much as your momma!

i think it's passe to use "esq." nowadays, except as a courtesy when referring to other lawyers. for example, at the end of correspondence you would put

name
name of firm in caps

in any court documents, you'd put your name and bar number underneath.

Had a high-school teacher who's first & middle initials were D. R., so he liked to sign his name that way, so it looks like he has a doctorate degree.

I could do this... but I'm not that stupid 😉

I commonly see Professional Engineers listing their names like:

John Doe, P. Eng

This is something I'd do as well once I get my Professional Engineering license.

yah, mba thing is a bit rediculous.

I never see my mom sign anything with M.D.

although if she wanted to, could be M.D. Ph.D

brian, B.A. (beer afficendo)
