**** I messed up see last post ****
So I've downloaded both the x86 and x64 versions of Vista w/SP1 and burned to DVD's.
Today I thought I'd mess around a little bit with the 32-bit version and install it on an older single core PC sitting in the closet.
The curious thing is that the 32-bit version tells me shortly into the install process that I'm attempting to load a 64-bit application onto a computer with a CPU that is not compatible. Thinking that I somehow switched the disks, I booted off the other one and I get the same message.
My download history at TechNet shows my having downloaded the two different versions. The downloads were a month apart and the DVD's were created and labeled within minutes of the download completion so I really don't feel there was a mix up there.
What have I done wrong?
Edit: The autorun.inf on both disks is identical. Why the reference to x64 on both?
[AutoRun.Amd64]
open=setup.exe
icon=setup.exe,0
[AutoRun]
open=sources\sperr32.exe x64
icon=sources\sperr32.exe,0
Am I on to something or is my ignorance showing?
Edit 2: Hmmm, here's the autorun.inf from a retail purchased OEM 32-bit version of Business.
