Ppl sometimes have sigs to save them time from writing the same things over and over. Like if someone always wrote their name, number, email addy, etc. it would get tedious to always type that out each email.

I use signatures here because I believe it raises my stature in the community. :D

I don't use 'em in e-mail because I put all my wittiness into the main message, and since my e-mail address is my name, it's fairly obvious who it's from.

For professional communications, a signature with full credentials, contact info, etc, might make sense, but for personal emails sigs are completely unnecessary. If you want to add a "personal touch" to your email then write your darn letter in a way that displays your personality!

Putting some inane quote or some retarded link to some useless website at the bottom of your email does not make you any more unique than the seven zillion other knuckleheads who are doing the exact same thing as you.

Um...I use them because I'm looking at buying speakers/digicam from people on here soon and I need it for credibility.

Why not? It makes the email unique with a personal touch. It makes it not the same type of boring mail you usually get.

I tend not to EVER use signatures. Not in e-mails or forums. Maybe if i could think of something extremely clever i might, but i tend not to be smart enough to think of anything so...

I put the same sig I have here in my emails. Saves me the time of writing my name and contact informations.

My sig for email is just my name with a couple dashes in front of it.

When I post to my car mailing list I have a different sig that shows what kind of car I have an my website for my car. Or when I'm wearing my admin hat for the mailing list I have yet another sig that I'll put that has my name and then list admin and the list's website.

Just saves me from having to type the stuff out or answer the same questions over and over.
