signatures - why are they allowed to get out of hand?

why do people need 10 lines of space betwen each reply and have 3 replies in a signature

I think what the forums should change to is to put either signatures in the 'user area' which would be the left hand column or at least have that left hand side be the personalized space where you can put your own crap etc. Looking at other forums makes you realize that having signatures is bad/annoying since it looks like it's part of the post some times.

yup and I can chose to put the system specs wherever I want. If you dont like it there then block sigs. If you dont wanna block sigs than deal.
