"Signal out of range" resolution prob with Radeon LE

Anybody have a simple solution to this problem (short of reinstalling Windows)? I just installed a Radeon LE and everything seems to be working fine except I can't get it into 1280 x 1024. Monitor gives me "signal out of range" message and this happens from the desktop as well as in games. The odd thing is that all other resolutions, including 1600 x 1200, seem to be fine. I've tried different refresh rates, reloading drivers for the card and monitor, but no change. Monitor definitely worked at that res with previous card (Voodoo 3). Not related to registry hacks and BIOS flash to DDR since problem was there before and after I did these. Maybe because I'm running Windows 95 (not officially supported by drivers)? Anyway, thanks for any ideas.

Try setting the refresh rate at something other than "optimal". I had that problem with my V3 and my Samsung, but that fixed it.

I have experienced the same problems with my LE and KDS VS-190i. When I use both the card and monitor drivers 1280x1024 is out of range. But lower res is still in range. Haven't tried higher. I can run with current LE drivers and my monitor listed as plug and play monitor at an ok range at 1280x1024. I'm not sure what I actually get as a benefit if I use the monitor driver.

Currently I am using no hacks for my LE.

Thanks for suggestions. I'd already changed refresh rates, so I tried going back to Plug and Play Monitor driver, and that did allow 1280 x 1024! But -- more weirdness -- monitor wouldn't remember size and position of image when I changed resolutions, and I'd have to reset each time. Oh well -- at least I know it's a driver issue. Thanks again.

My sync out of range problem was only when going into 640x480 for like the into to games or something.
